Title: Ten and Two.
Rating: PG-13 for language.
Character(s)/Pairings: Faith, Kennedy, Willow.
Summary: A moment on the bus heading out of Sunnydale.
"Your shift."
Faith tore her gaze from a sleeping Robin and turned it to Willow, confusion evident on her face. "What?" she demanded, annoyed at having been interrupted. Despite Robin's arguments otherwise, she had this feeling in her gut. This feeling that the second she looked away, he'd disappear. The guy had offered her a good thing, and Faith had been around long enough to know that those never last.
“She means it's your turn to drive," Kennedy explained, jerking her thumb in the direction of Giles, who didn't seem as if he would be waking for another week or so. “Buffy's apparently incapable of operating any sort of machine, Willow never got to learn, and One-Eyed Guy over there can't do it. Everyone else on this bus is either injured or barely even has a permit, let alone a license. That leaves you."
Faith felt a queasy sensation settle in her stomach. “What about you?" she snapped, still irritated. No one told her what to do, especially not Willow's punk girlfriend. Though it wasn't so much the commands that bothered her, as it was admitting that she couldn't do something.
Kennedy smirked, ignoring the growl in Faith's voice. "I always had a chauffeur."
Faith glanced uncertainly at the front of the bus. "And when do you think I got the chance to learn? When my mom was too drunk to walk, or when I was out gutting folk?"
Willow leaned over, grinning good-naturedly, although her smile faltered slightly at the mention of gutting. Still, Faith had heard the stories about Red's flayscapades, and it seemed that Willow was still too high off of her super-magick or whatever it was to worry about that deal for long. "Maybe after you wrastled that alligator?" Willow suggested.
Faith raised an eyebrow. Willow had definitely changed. She guessed that she'd proved herself in battle as being one of them, a Scooby (or, at least, a semi-Scooby), and that had helped, but Faith didn't expect it to last. Karma was a bitch like that.
And she still couldn't drive.

God damn, I miss your Faith. I can't even tell you. I *miss* that girl. This was a great little moment, though. A lot of character revealed in a small space. With a biggish chunk of characters, so... that's hard. But it's done well. And I *like* thinking that Faith is worried that Robin is going to disappear and that Giles is exhausted.
Two edits:
spelling: chauffeur -- you need another "u" there, babygirl
typo: you lost one of the double quotes on "Scooby" -- I think it would also work as italics on the first mention and nothing the second.
I want more.
And I think Faith should have made Andrew drive. He probably can't, but... Xander could have kept him company and shown him how to do it. And yes, that is implied slash. I am eeeeevil incarnate.
xo to you,
+k

And, thanks. For the spelling. Because.. how'd I fuck that up? I'm going into the barn to die, please. As for the second one - whoops. No excuse. I'm super lazy.
You are such a slash whore. Well, not really. I'll write more if more comes to me. I hope so. I like the idea of the bus, and focusing on Faith after that in a way that isn't pairing-centric. Or even if it's Faith/Robin. I don't like him that much, but he's grown on me, and he is good for Faith. Xander teaching Andrew how to drive would be cute, but I don't think they'd risk it when they're on the bus with a lot of wounded Slayers. Maybe when they get to whatever place I take them in my head. I can see it being a crappy old blue car for some reason. I don't know why I took you so seriously on that, or why I'm talking so much.
teh love. and ty again. Yep, ty.
